The Somesville Library Association, serving permanent and temporary residents of the local communities, affirms the following purposes:​

1. To manage and maintain a free private library open to the public.​

​

2. To encourage and promote the love of books and to supply popular books and materials, meeting most of the patron demands.​

 

3. To widen and deepen the knowledge and appreciation of literature -  to be a supplemental learning center for individuals of all ages. This will be done by providing:​   

 

A core collection including some classics and a very limited collection of reference materials​​ 

A children's book room​     

A collection of historical works related to the area, Maine and the New England Regions.

 

​4. To offer computing and internet access​

 

5. To preserve and maintain traditional uses of the building and grounds for the community and visitors.​​​​​​​​​​​​​​
